A deputy at the Department of Environment (DoE) announced that with water being released in Zayanderud River in the coming days, the parched river will be revived. Dr. Mohammad Mojabi told ISNA that the “water crisis has been a serious challenge for the country in recent years- something that needs to be pondered carefully.” He said due to the overuse of its water, Zayandehrud had lost between 400 million and 600 million cubic meters of water. Mojabi added that the initiative is based on the decision made by the High Council of Water to release water from a nearby dam in two phases.
