The minister of health responding to a question on the delay in providing aid packages for terminally ill patients, said he is concerned about the “potential misuse’’ that could occur. Dr. Seyyed Hassan Hashemi told ISNA “he is thinking about the matter daily.’’ He noted since the cost of medicine for these patients is high, and some aspects of the plan have not been clarified yet, he is ‘’worried about its susceptibility to misuse.” He added that the funding for the aid package remains ‘’intact’’ and their discussions with the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) are continuing.
