A national database with information on all children under the age of 18 has been prepared by Iran’s National Body on the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), said Mosaffar Alvandi, secretary of the NBCRC.”The database is completed and is in the trial phase at the moment,” he told ISNA. Children under 18 make up about 30% (nearly 28 million) of the country’s population. The database will contain information such as the name, address, date of birth, parents’ details and access to educational facilities. Such databases will facilitate easy and efficient access to information for competent executive bodies in order to improve child protection.
