According to Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, Iran’s scientific place in the world has seen a two-step growth since the new government took office in mid-2013. Iran’s International Science Ranking was 18 and 16 in the years 2013 and 2015 respectively. The figure has seen a two-step growth, said Scopus. Also, the latest statistics by Scopus database shows the world percentage of science production was 1.35 and 1.51 in 2013 and 2015 respectively, a 0.2% growth as well. Iran ranked first in the region and in the Islamic world in terms of science in those years according to the database.
