The Institute for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INST) of Sharif University of Technology is organizing the 6th International Conference on Nanostructures (ICNS6) from March 7-10. It will on Kish Island, in collaboration with the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC).

The aim of the conference, which will be attended by well-known national and international scientists and researchers, is to share new knowledge and present advances in the fields of nanoscience and nanostructures, says the website nanosharif.ir

“This is an important international and multi-disciplinary event in the field of nanotechnology,” said Hamid Reza Madaah Hosseini, professor of materials science and engineering at Sharif University.

Prof. Sumio Iijima, Japanese physicist who is often cited as the inventor of carbon nanotubes, Prof. Bo Nystrom, professor at the Department of Chemistry, University of Oslo, Norway, Prof. Fuyuhiko Tamanoi, biochemist who has served on the UCLA School of Medicine and UCLA college faculty, and Prof. Omar M. Yaghi, currently the James and Neeltje Tretter Chair Professor of Chemistry at UC Berkeley, have accepted invitations to address the conference.

Expected to be one of the largest gatherings of researchers and industry professionals in the field of nanoscience in the region, Hosseini said the organizing committee is endeavoring to bring together experts and academia in the constantly evolving field of nanoscience and nanotechnology from around the world to exchange ideas, discover novel opportunities and broaden their knowledge on the latest developments as well as future perspectives.

As in the past, the conference includes a diversity of topics which “we hope will bring a plurality of interests and perspectives. We call all general participants as well as scientists and researchers to participate in the enrichment of the scientific program of the ICNS6,” he added.
