The director-general of the Population Health, Family and Schools Office at the Health Ministry has announced an increase in natural births by over 10% compared to the previous year. “Through the ministry’s educational programs to reduce cesarean section (C-section) and increase natural delivery in recent years, the number of women willing to have natural childbirth has improved,” Seyed Esmail Motlaq said, IRNA reported. Natural delivery is free of cost in all state-run hospitals. However, “if the expectant mother cannot have a natural delivery for any reason, she has the choice to give birth via C-section as per the costs based on specific tariffs.”
