Recombinant Drugs Unveiled

Twelve new recombinant drugs were unveiled on Sunday at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall by Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi and head of Food and Drug Administration Rasoul Dinarvand. “Domestic production of these drugs will help save $150 million, and facilitate easy access of the drugs for the patients,” said Dinarvand, the Persian-language daily ‘Iran’ reported. The drugs, previously imported, are used to treat a number of hard-to-treat diseases including cancer and MS, besides several non-communicable diseases. “Self-sufficiency will also help boost the quality of domestic medicine and lead to more reasonable prices,” the minister said.
