Seventy-five surveillance cameras to register road traffic violations have been added on major roads, and 50 more will be ready before the current Iranian year is out (March 19), according to Iran’s Traffic Police. This was stated at a launching ceremony for the first phase of a new project that plans to install 1,800 smart cameras to register traffic violations all across major roads in the country over a period of two years, ILNA reported. In the first phase, a total of 125 cameras were to be added to the already existing 400 before travelers hit the roads in ‘Nowruz’ (Iranian New Year) holidays. The project encompasses seven phases, each covering a specific number of the 31 provinces.
