The northeastern province of North Khorasan has the highest rate (20.4%) of female economic participation among the 31 provinces in the country, said Fakhrossadat Khamesi, director general of the Office for Women and Family Affairs, Yazd Province. “Ardebil (19.2%), Khorasan Razavi (18.1%), and Yazd (16.9%) are next on the list,” she said, the online portal of the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs reported. The capital Tehran is 21st on the list with 11.7%. Supporting women in ethnic occupations and handicrafts is one of the strategies to create sustainable employment, she said. A permanent market is to open soon for female breadwinners in the central Yazd Province.
