As part of the Literacy Movement Organization’s program to educate nomadic women and girls between 10 and 49 years of age, around 400 educators are conducting workshops in four provinces of East Azarbaijan, Ardebil, Fars, and Kohkilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad. “The project will have educated 1,500 women by the end of current Iranian year (March 19),” said deputy education minister Ahmad Ali Baqerzadeh, ISNA reported. Noting that currently 1.3 million people in the age group 10-49 are illiterate, he said 35,000 volunteers are contributing to educating the illiterate on a permanent basis.
