The head of the Department of Environment (DoE) announced that according to the latest measures, the level of benzene in the air has significantly lowered. Masumeh Ebtekar said this was due to ‘’right steps’’ taken in regard with gasoline imports, ISNA reported.
The only criterion for judging the level of toxins is to examine the gasoline provided at the pump. Presently gasoline supplied meets the euro 4 standards but would be subject to ‘’regular inspection.’’
Ebtekar concluded that the reduction of benzene in the air was a good step towards the greater goal of clean air.
