Women’s Economic Input Low

According to a recent survey conducted by the Office of the Vice-Presidency for Family and Women’s Affairs, 80% of Iranian women are housewives. “Without economic participation of women who constitute nearly half the country’s population, we cannot achieve the sustainable development goals,” said Susan Bastani, deputy head of the Women and Family Department at the Vice-Presidency, Alef News Agency reported. At present, 49% of the university students are women. “Although the number of female students has increased significantly during the last two decades, currently, unemployment rates for women are twice that of men,” she said.
