Currently, 40% of the first births are related to women over the age of 30, said Ali Akbar Mahzoun, director of the office of statistics and population at Iran’s Civil Registration Organization. “Before the year 2010, less than 30% of the first births were related to mothers over the age of 30,”Alef News Agency quoted him as saying. He also said that in the first nine months of the current year (ends March 19), the average age of marriage was 28.4 for men and 23.7 for women, while the figures were 28.1 and 23.5 during the same period in the previous year.
