Marriage Insurance, the first of its kind in Iran, was unveiled Saturday in the presence of Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mahmoud Goudarzi. “Financial assistance such as insurance could help address part of the problems the youth face at the time of getting married,” the minister said at the ceremony, Borna News Agency reported. The MoU for provision of the insurance was signed between the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Iran Insurance Company in December to encourage marriage. Within the framework of the MoU, families can subscribe to the insurance scheme by paying a monthly premium and their children can benefit at the time of marriage. Insurance will be available at 9,500 IIC branches across the country, the deputy minister of sports and youth affairs Mohammadreza Rostami said. The insurance covers costs of prenuptial counseling, wedding ceremony and reception, and marriage portion, and compensation in case of death of a spouse.
