According to the Statistical Center of Iran the population reached 79 million on February 2. “Population saw a 4.5% growth in the first three quarters of the current Iranian Year (ends March 19),” said Ali Akbar Mahzoon, general director of population and immigration statistics and information at the National Organization for Civil Registration. He said 180 births per hour were registered in nine months, showing a 4.5% growth vis-à-vis the previous year while 277,914 deaths were registered during the same period, IRNA reported.
