A total of 22 new medical items were recently produced at the research center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, said Masoud Younesian, research deputy head of the university. “Seven of the total medications are for cancer treatment,” he said, reports IRNA. In addition, a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging device, a nuclear medicine tomographic imaging technique using gamma rays, has also been produced by the center. A SPECT scan lets physicians analyze the function of some internal organs. The larger part of the production belongs to the field of stem cell transplantation, Younesian noted.
