This year, the flu virus killed 217,000 people across the world, including 112 in Iran. In Iran, the first wave of flu subsided at the beginning of winter and now only a few cases of the common viral infection are being reported in the country, said Mohammad Mahdi Guya, head of the Management Center of Infectious Diseases at the Health Ministry. There is the possibility of a new wave of flu by the end of winter, but it would  be milder, he said, reports IRNA. Influenza is still in epidemic proportions in some countries including Turkey, Russia, Georgia and Ukraine.
