An additional 120,000 nurses are required to meet the demand in hospitals across the country, said Mohammad Mirza Beigi, deputy director of nursing services at the Health Ministry. “At present, there are approximately 140,000 registered nurses in the country,” Alef News Agency quoted him as saying. He pointed to the recruitment of more than 16,000 nurses in the current year (ends March 20) and said the ministry has planned to recruit 17,000 additional nurses in the next year.
