Iranian Red Crescent Society personnel were successful in saving the lives of a newborn baby and her mother from an obstructed labor delivery this week.
The woman, living in a remote mountainous region in Dezful County, Khuzestan Province, was suffering from obstructed labor and therefore a helicopter was sent to transport her to hospital, said Freidoun Jafarian, an IRCS official, Alef News Agency reported.
But the woman gave birth in the helicopter en-route to hospital, with the help of the IRCS medical team on board. The number of air emergency stations has increased to 17 with one each in Tehran, Dezful, Shahroud, Zahedan, Shiraz, Qom, Mashhad, Kerman, Kermanshah, Isfahan, Shiraz, Qazvin, Alborz, Bushehr, Mazandaran, Hamedan and Ahvaz.
