Iranian researchers have produced antibacterial nanocomposite samples that can be used in foodstuff packaging. According to the Iran Technology Initiative Council (INIC), the material will help increase durability of food items, the INIC website reported. Based on studies, the nanocomposite has appropriate antibacterial properties which preserve nutritional value of foodstuff and drugs without the need for using harmful chemical preservatives. The trial run on milk packaging resulted in milk preservation for up to 32 days without the use of preservatives. Results of the research have been published in the Journal of Food Science and Technology, vol. 52, 2015.
