Switzerland is to be the new destination for Iranian blood plasma for production of plasma-derived medicine, said Ali Akbar Pourfathollah, head of the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization. “We held negotiations with the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health for a number of Swiss pharmaceutical companies to import blood plasma from Iran,” he said, ILNA reported. The value of blood plasma currently in Iran is estimated at $11 million, which will increase to $17 million within two years, as the IBTO plans to boost production by using the ‘pheresis’ method.
