Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi, at a meeting recently discussed venues for expansion of joint scientific and technological cooperation. Schroeder welcomed the expansion of scientific bilateral ties asserting that Europe has long taken advantage of Iran’s contribution to medical science, and there “are numerous avenues for scientific cooperation between the higher education institutions from both sides,” Mehr News Agency reported. The German government in general is interested to expand and strengthen joint scientific and technology cooperation between the two countries, Schroeder added. Farhadi, also called for the mutual presence of scientists in universities and research centers, and said bilateral cooperation can also be expanded to knowledge-based companies and areas related to transfer of technology and sharing experience, the minister was quoted as saying.
