A ceremony will be held at the National Library of Iran to honor Dr. Abbas Sheibani, the first president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Medical Council (IRIMC) after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Social Welfare Deputy at the IRIMC, Saeed Saei, said that introducing prominent medical figures to the public will help the people’s trust toward doctors and medical community at large, Mehr News Agency reported.

“The IRIMC plans to honor doctors in various fields who have served people and are the pride of the medical community. In the first step, we will pay tribute to Dr. Sheibani,” Saei said. The date for the ceremony has not been mentioned.

Sheibani’s honesty and faithful service to his community are among the characteristics which have made him popular among the public, he said.

Sheibani served as the IRIMC head from 1981 to 1984. He is a physician and a four-term lawmaker. Currently he is a member of the Tehran City Council.
