Establishing branches in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil universities in Iraqi Kurdistan is among the priorities of the Islamic Azad University, announced Hossein Ebrahimi, advisor to the president and IAU director general for international affairs.

A delegation from the IAU visited Sulaymaniyah on Sunday.

“Setting up branches in other countries has been approved by the relevant university council and will soon become operational,” he said.

Ebrahimi said the talks with the Iraqis were held to pave the way for signing MoUs and evaluate the status of higher education in the neighboring country for setting up international branches.

Holding joint courses, managing international knowledge-based programs and promoting Persian language and literature have also been discussed.
