Researchers at Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University recently designed and produced six types of medical lasers, announced Dr. Mohammadreza Razzaqi, head of the university’s department for laser medicine.
“The lasers were developed in cooperation with the Iranian National Center for Laser Science and Technology (INCLST),” he said, Borna News Agency reported.
Research and production of the devices were in line with the center’s policies to indigenize medical technology. The test runs for the products have been completed and accredited by the Medical Equipment Department of the Health Ministry.
The lasers are on par with international standards in terms of quality, but cost less. “A few components are imported, but for the most part, they are designed and built at the INCLST,” he said.
