A researcher at Ferdowsi University of Medical Science in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province, has developed a nanomaterial which helps improve endodontic treatment procedures. Maryam Shayani Rad, a master’s student of nanophysics, developed the material while working on a research project on Nano-Sealer in Root Canal Therapy, MNA reported. Most failures in root canal filling are reportedly due to inefficient sealers which close the top of fillings, and wear away over time. To address this drawback, Shayani Rad developed an enhanced material to be used in the sealer. “The nanomaterial developed in the project can be used to prevent failure of root canal procedures and loss of natural tooth,” she said.
