A national database for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been set up by the Information Technology and Telecommunications Department of the Law Enforcement Forces, announced head of the department, General Ahmad Dolatkhah. “Given that autistic people run the risk of getting lost, the police have set up a registry to help find them,” he said, IRNA reported. ASD is a range of serious developmental disorders that impairs the ability to communicate and interact. The database will facilitate access to information on physical features of individuals and their psychological status, and will help the police provide services to families in a timely and efficient manner, mainly because autistic people do not approach strangers to ask for help. Dolatkhah urged families with autistic members to cooperate in completing the database.
