In a joint operation by the police departments in Semnan, Qom, and Kerman provinces, a huge drug trafficking ring was busted and over 2 tons of illicit drugs were seized.
Colonel Ruhol-Amin Qassemi, the commander of Semnan Province Law Enforcement Forces, announced on Monday that police managed to identify and track a crime gang after months of investigations, Alef News Agency reported.
Investigations revealed that the band was planning to smuggle large volumes of illicit drugs from eastern Iran to the central parts.
After arrangements were made with the LEF in Qom, Kerman, and Semnan, a squad from Semnan’s LEF were dispatched to Kerman and stopped a van carrying the drugs in the vicinity of the city of Rafsanjan, the officer was quoted as saying.
