Teachers Honored for Exceptional Devotion

Thirteen teachers were honored by Minister of Education Ali Asghar Fani for going beyond the call of duty and showing exceptional bravery and devotion to their work at the 2nd Festival of Teachers in Tehran.

Soraya Motaharnia from Bijar County in Kurdestan Province was hailed for funding 60 students in need of medical treatment, providing financial assistance to 220 indigent students and supporting 42 cases of special surgeries in the western province, reports IRNA.

Zahra Moafi from Qazvin saved 40 students from gas poisoning, Fatemeh Molavi from Hamadan rescued some students from drowning in a river and

Hajar Mofidi Mahmoudabadi was praised for her devotion to her work despite severe injury.

Alireza Hadinezhad from Yazd and Asgar Zahed Anzani from Parsabad County in Ardabil Province were also appreciated for their spirit of self sacrifice. Hadinezhad who is teaching in Towhid Primary School, 40 km from the provincial center, has provided transport facility to one of his students who is physically challenged and Anzani saved the lives of two students who were drowning in a river.

Tributes were paid to Mehri Endallah from Tehran city for her regular presence in the classroom despite suffering from cancer and undergoing surgery four times over the past two years.

Siavash Salehi from Izeh County, Khuzestan Province saved his students from deadly floods, and Alireza Shafiee from Isfahan took timely action to save the life of one of his students with heart problem. The family of Reihane Beheshti from Khorasan Razavi Province who donated her organs after her untimely demise also earned high praise.

Abdollah Eslami from Shahrekord city, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province was honored for building a school with 15 classrooms.

Fani thanked and praised Shabbou Yousefi from Kurdestan for rescuing students from an inferno and providing financial assistance to needy students, especially orphans and inspiring them to continue with their education.

Anis Shah Rahmani from Yazd was commended for providing financial assistance to 11 orphans and children with negligent parents. Her 24 years of service to students with special needs was highly commended.

Anis Shah Rahmani and Shabbou Yousefi were honored in absentia.

Teachers are vital to the social, cultural and economic fabric of the nation and play an extraordinary role in the lives of children during their formative years. The importance of the teaching fraternity cannot be overemphasized. They help train students as responsible citizens and future leaders and it is important to express immense gratitude for their hard work and contribution, Fani said.
