Attracting foreign students as well as setting up branches abroad, neighboring states in particular, is on the agenda of Payame Noor University (PNU), its deputy head Seyyed Mohammad Sadri said. “Given the satisfactory infrastructure for e-education at the PNU, there is good online interaction among students from different regions of the world and the university,” he told IRNA. The university currently has students from 70 countries, and the number is set to increase in the coming years. Established in 1988 under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, PNU is a state-run university, with 31 provincial centers, 485 local study centers, campuses around the country, and one international study center in Tehran. It has international branches in Azerbaijan, the UAE, Afghanistan, Italy, Tajikistan, Oman, Canada, and Malaysia.
