Efforts at the Fisheries Research Organization have enabled the country to supply shrimp which is free of disease, said Dr. Pour Kazemi, head of the organization. The breakthrough research was backed by the presidential deputy in science and technology. According to ISNA, the initiative at the national level has ranked the country fifth in production of healthy shrimp. Prior to this, specific pathogen-free (SPF) shrimp brood stock was imported, but now the country can produce it.
