Singaporean chemical engineer Prof. Jackie Ying and Jordanian-American chemist Prof. Omar Yaghi in the fields of Nano-biotechnology sciences and Nanoscience and Nanotechnology respectively, winners of the top science and technology award of the Islamic world, were awarded the Mustafa Scientific Prize at a ceremony at Vahdat Hall, on Friday. Ying is executive director and faculty member of the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology of Singapore and Yaghi is president of the Kavli Energy Nanosciences Institute and faculty member of University of California, Berkeley. “Prof. Ying is awarded in recognition of her efforts in development of ‘stimulus response systems in targeted delivery of drugs’ in the field of Nano-biotechnology,” said Dr. Hossein Zohour, chairman of the science committee. “Prof. Omar Yaghi was selected for his extensive research in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) in the category of nanoscience and nanotechnology,” Mehr News Agency reported.
