The head of the Health Committee of Tehran City Council, Rahmatollah Hafezi has called for controls on prices of dairy products since the rate of osteoporosis is rising. “The increasing rate of the disease is a warning to statesmen to curb the increasing prices of dairy products,” he said on Tuesday, Mehr News Agency reported. “The average global per capita intake of dairy products is 250 liters, but it currently stands at 60 liters in Iran,” he rued. In Iran 4.5% of all women and 2.3% of all men over the age of 50 suffer from osteoporosis.
