The National Day of Older Persons is back in Iran’s official calendar after it was suspended a few years ago, said Dr. Farid Barati Sadeh, secretary of the National Council of Elderly. “As per a bill approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, the national day to honor the elderly on October 10 is back on the official calendar,” he said, ISNA reported. Commemorating the day is significant “since it reflects nationwide care and consideration for the senior population.” The international day of older people is observed globally on October 1.
