Although only 9% of addicts in the country are women, however the age of addiction among females has fallen significantly dropping to 13 years in the current year (started March 21), said Shahindokht Molaverdi, vice president for women and family affairs. “Most of them use industrial psychotropic substances which leads to more dependence than other narcotic drugs,” ISCA News quoted her as saying. Pointing to the fact that many women don’t go to rehabilitation centers, she said, “It is regrettable that addiction has not been declared a disease in women.”
