Iran has the 17th largest population in the world, according to the United Nations 2015 Human Development Report.
The report says that the national population grew by one million since 2014 to reach 78.5 million, reports the Persian daily ‘Forsat-e Emrooz’.
Iran’s population will reach 91.3 million by 2030, says the report. In 2013, the UN Human Development Report had predicted that the population would reach 84.4 million by 2030 going by the demographic statistics of the time.
The rate is currently 1.3%, down from the 1.8% in 2005, while the global average stands at 1.1% per year.
