Last week’s unusual cold caused $1.6 million in damage to Bushehr’s off-season tomato crop, said Amrollah Ahmadi, head of Agriculture Jihad, Dashti County in Bushehr Province. Due to the freezing temperatures, 10% to 30% of crops in 2,150 hectares of farmlands were damaged. However 220,000 tons of tomatoes are still estimated to be harvested, IRNA reported. The harvest season began last week.
