By the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2016), all those with disabilities in the country will receive their ICF (International Classification of Functioning) cards, said Anoushiravan Mohseni Bandpei, head of the State Welfare Organization.

“Currently, there are over 1.1 million people registered for disabilities, including more than 18,000 physically challenged students, 40% of whom suffer from low vision or blindness,” he said at a function on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), ILNA reported.

Designed by the World Health Organization in 1992, and approved by the World Health Assembly in 2001, the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, also known as ICF, is a classification of the health components of functioning and disability. The ICF contains information on diagnosis and health condition, as well as functional status.
