Although the rate of using antibiotics in Iran is higher than the global average, the overall rate of drug consumption is lower than the rates worldwide, said Mehdi Pirsalehi, director general of the Drugs Evaluation and Control Department at the Food and Drug Administration.”Hospital-acquired infections could be a major cause of high use of antibiotics in the country,” he said Sunday at the fifth congress on Standards of Medical Devices and Materials in Field of Infection Control and Sterilization.
