Afghan Minister of Higher Education Farideh Momand called for implementation of MoUs signed by Iran and Afghanistan to develop academic ties, in a meeting with Mohammad Kafi, chancellor of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. “Islamic Azad University, Payam-e-Nour and Jame’at al-Mostafa Alalamiyeh are the three institutions of higher learning in Iran active in Afghanistan,” she said, IRNA reported. Momand said there are 35 public universities and higher education institutes as well as 101 private universities and higher education institutes in her country and “we welcome cooperation with Ferdowsi University in the field of research.” Kafi said his university in Khorasan Razavi Province is keen on cooperation with Afghan academia and centers of learning.
