An observatory for national health indicators is to be established in Tehran by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2016), said Seyyed Mohammad Hadi Ayazi, deputy health minister for social affairs, NGOs and health charities. “The observatory will provide a geographical map of diseases and ailments across Iran, in terms of types, prevalence, severity and other aspects,” he said, Borna News Agency reported. Such observatories worldwide provide data on priority health topics including mortality and burden of diseases, the Millennium Development Goals (child nutrition, maternal and reproductive health, immunization, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, water and sanitation), non-communicable diseases and risk factors and violence and injuries, among others.
