Alborz Province has the highest rate of HIV infection compared to other provinces, said Muhammad Mahdi Guya, head of Communicable Diseases Control Center at the Health Ministry. At present only 25% to 30% of HIV-infected people have been identified in the country, he said quoted by ISNA. According to the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Iran with 149 countries have agreed to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030, Guya said. During the first five years of the plan, governments should identify all HIV-infected people in their respective nations. In the second phase, 90% of those identified should be treated.
