Under a 10-year plan, veterinary pharmacies across the country will be replaced by veterinary healthcare centers, said Masoud Hashemzadeh, deputy for diagnosis and treatment at the Veterinary Organization of Iran.
“Changing the status of the 1,700 veterinary pharmacies to clinics that will offer wide-ranging services, will regulate the use of drugs, particularly antibiotics, as well as meeting the farmers’ need for livestock medicine within their neighborhoods,” he said, Borna News Agency reported. As per a new scheme, veterinary services will be provided for livestock and affiliated sectors. Specialized veterinary services will also be provided to rural and nomadic populations in compliance with their requirements.
The plan will help reduce veterinary costs and restrict excessive use of medicine.
