English letters will be removed from Tehran’s road signs with street directions, announced Seyed Jafar Tashakkori Hashemi, traffic and transport deputy at the Tehran Municipality. “Citizens have repeatedly complained about the small fonts of traffic signs, therefore, the English lettering will be removed to free up space to enlarge the Farsi lettering,” he said, ISNA reported. Tashakkori said that a grid system of numbered streets and avenues will be used to guide foreign visitors and tourists. “Urban managers are currently creating a revised model of urban passageways based on the numbering system,” he added.
