Researchers of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in collaboration with the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute (NSTRI) and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), have created nano-radiomedicine for treating cancer, in particular breast cancer, said Esmael Molarazi, a faculty member of the FDA Research Center. “We are conducting laboratory tests on the drug’s effect on cancerous cells,” IRNA quoted him as saying. The new drug will affect only the targeted cancerous tissue leaving healthy tissue unharmed, he added. The research project was published in the Journal of Labeled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals.
