Iran is far ahead of regional states in the field of pathology, said Dr. Moslem Bahadori, a permanent member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Iran. “There are 1,500 pathologists in the country at present,” he said at the First International Congress of Pathology in Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman Province, ISNA reported. Pathology is a major field in modern medicine and diagnosis. It was first officially recognized in Iran in 1979 with the establishment of the Department of Pathology. Today, the discipline is taught in 20 universities of medical sciences across the country.
