Since the beginning of the fishing season in Gilan Province on October 12, nearly 248 tons of different kinds of bony fish have been caught by more than 4,000 fishermen, said Akbar Ilderam, deputy director general of Gilan Fisheries Organization.

Fishermen netted 158 tons of mullets, 80 tons of Caspian kutum and 10 tons of other species, IRNA reported.

There was a 36% reduction in bony fish caught in the Caspian Sea of Gilan Province, in northern Iran, compared to the last fishing season.

The main reason for the reduction is the higher number of stormy days compared to the previous fishing year.
