As one million Iranians have registered for pilgrimage to the holy city of Karbala in Iraq to attend the Arba’een mourning ceremonies (Dec. 2), the Health Ministry has launched a health campaign to spread information.

“The campaign will raise awareness on personal health and hygiene in the form of brochures and video clips,” said Dr. Shahram Rafieifar, head of the Department of Health Education and Promotion at the ministry, ISNA reported.

Arba’een is the 40th day of Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia imam, Imam Hussein (AS).  It is one of the biggest religious congregations in the world attended by Shia Muslims from many countries.

The campaign will issue health advisories including proper choice of food, use of bottled water and preventive measures to control viral diseases and safe traveling tips.
