Rainfall across the country over the past three days created flooding that inundated seven provinces, leaving two people dead in Bushehr Province, and thousands in need of emergency aid. Heavy rainfall caused damage in Hormozgan, Kerman, Kermanshah, Lorestan, Fars, Qazvin, Bushehr and Yazd provinces, affecting 2,400 people, according to the Young Journalists Club, Six towns, five cities, and several villages incurred severe damage.  Two persons were rescued, and 11 relief teams comprising 46 people have been sent to the distressed areas. Since early this week, Tehran too received a fair amount of the precipitation along with very pleasant climate and less pollution -- an exception in the metropolis of 12 million people that almost always registers high levels of pollution. Rain together with hurricane and thunderstorms for a week closed primary schools in Jahrom and Lamerd in the southern Fars Province, where electricity and gas supplies were cut. Two weeks ago, flash floods, triggered by heavy rainfall killed six people in two western provinces, Ilam and Lorestan, resulting in more than $60 million in damage, including $15 million in agricultural losses. Authorities have repeatedly promised measures in preparedness for unforeseen torrential rainfall, but to no avail.
