An estimated 50% of mental disorders are developed before the age of 14, and nearly 75% before the age of 24, said Habibollah Masoudi Farid, social deputy at the State Welfare Organization. “Over 26% of the population aged 15 and older are suffering from some sort of psychological disorder, and are in need of specialized intervention,” he said at the SWO’s first meeting on “Violence Prevention.” Mental disorders are one of the leading causes of street and other brawls that put many behind bars annually due to unintentional injuries or killings. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Judiciary and affiliated organizations.
